Here’s a looooooong update on our summer.
Grandma and Grandpa kept the boys for a weekend for us (in April—these pics are old, but needed to be shared!). Dominic caught a 40 lbs Buffalo Carp. (Is that what it was, if it isn’t a beta or a goldfish, I’m pretty ignorant).
We’ve made it out to the lake a few times. Grandma and Grandpa bought a few new toys including a Super Mabel, not to be confused with the Mabel or the Big Mabel. Eleven grandkids means its time for the big guns.
Jackson and Patrick are riding on two wheels. They both learned on the same day, thankfully! Wish they could reach all their milestones the same day. It has given us so much freedom. We’ve gone on a few family bike rides, with Leo and Lucy in the bike stroller and the rest of us on our own bikes. We’ve biked all over, our admittedly small, town.
The boys have been big into putting on plays. My lifelong dream is being fulfilled before my very eyes . This particular play included a dragon, a jester, a king and a knight and even had an actual plot!
Just wanted to include this picture of Lucy clawing off Jacob’s face.
We had a priest from India, Fr. Jesu and another family in town over for dinner. He had very interesting stories about the persecution of Christians in his area and how his strength comes from his time in front of the Eucharist. It was very humbling to hear about his life and ministry.
Dominic had his first tooth pulled. His little mouth is teeny tiny. On his first visit to the dentist when he was three, we were told that he probably has a long life of orthodontia ahead of him. He took it like a champ, though!
I took the kiddos to the Archway museum. The maze was the biggest hit of the day! Mom enjoyed the museum part much more than the littles, though!
We are SO, SO grateful that Luke’s back is feeling better. He has actually been playing baseball and football with the boys-things he could only dream of doing 3 months ago. God is good.
This sweet girl is all over the place. She says “Hi” (her version, anyway) and is pulling herself up on everything.
Luke and I had a weekend with just the two of us with a little Lucy tagging along. They boys spent the weekend at the lake, just for fun! Luke and I went to dinner in town and spent the next day just being really lazy. It was a very weird experience to have a quiet house all weekend. Weird and awesome.
Lucy and I went back to my parents for a day to celebrate my mom’s birthday. We did a “crafternoon” for her. On our way, Lucy and I stopped to have dinner with Emily.
And we spent the next day crafting and drinking wine. It was a very fun day, despite a few “crafternoon” fails.
Man, this girl is pretty.
We did almost every Wednesday afternoon at our dear friends in town for a weekly playdate. Heather was so gracious in having about a million small children running around, causing chaos. They had so much fun and the mommas got a lot of time to chat as well.
We’re still busy sucking the marrow out of every last second of this summer. School starts in 10 days!
