The Ultimate Superfood

Sitting at lunch today…

Jackson: Mom, why are you eating something different?

Me: Because I’m trying to eat healthy.

Patrick: Is that the healthiest food in the whole wide world?

Me: Probably not the healthiest.

Patrick: Yea, God is the healthiest.

Jackson and Dominic snicker

Jackson: God isn’t a food.

Patrick: Well, God could make himself into a food.

Me: I suppose he could if he wanted to, but he doesn’t usually do that.

Dominic: What about communion? Then God is a food!

The Jonas Brothers?

A few nights ago, Luke was gone and the three older boys serenaded me for 45 minutes. They got out a microphone, keyboard and drum set and then rotated around the three instruments over and over and over again.

Every time Jackson started he’d say something like, “We’re welcome to join you today. Please enjoy this song.” And then all three of them would sing some variation of “Call Me Maybe” or sometimes the “ABC’s” or just a song of nonsense syllables. After a while, Jackson just started going on and on and on—so that’s Patrick on the floor, tired of banging on the keyboard and waiting his turn with the mic (the most coveted position in the band).

A Very Merry Christmas

We began our Christmas celebrations in Wahoo with my family. Of course, I forgot my camera (sorry, mom), but we had an awesome time being with the Mach family. It is growing fast with Lizzy getting married in 9 months and Jake’s girlfriend, Gina. We love the extras joining us! Saturday we opened presents as a family and Sunday we did the Bruggeman side,  always a Christmas highlight!

Monday we hurried back and hosted the Deaver’s (minus Ben and Brittany—we missed you!) at our house.

After waiting on Tom and Luke who were sent to get a block of cheese at the grocery store for 45 minutes and on stair casualty (Jake sprained his ankle), I almost thought our Christmas was done for. We rallied, though, and had a crazy present opening session and a great Clam Chowder/oyster stew dinner.

The Hulk mask was/is a favorite. He wears it all the time and yells in a growly voice, “HULK!”

Grandma D sat with the kiddos while they ate and told loooong stories. Luckily, she has lots of patience.

Each sippy and cup represents one crazy kiddo. I just had to laugh at the sight.

The next morning we opened stocking presents before Mass.

And I tried my hand at Prime Rib for the first time (with lots of help) for lunch. The kiddos got pigs in a blanket.  Hard to justify force feeding them $6/lb meat when they just love hotdogs so much… Smile

Every year I’m becoming more and more aware of what a blessing it is to have these littles to enjoy the holidays with. Every birthday and every Christmas with them is like celebrating for the very first time.

Pre-K Program

Few things warm my heart like watching my littles perform. Was able to watch a cute, touching program—first Jessica’s, and 30 minutes later (due to being rescheduled because of snow) our own Dominic.

D is trying to show how tall he is. Sorry D, she is actually taller than you now. You might catch up again during puberty….but based on your genes, I’d say not.

And Santa visited, too.
