Five short years ago, I woke up at 3am and sat with contractions for six hours before we headed of to the hospital. At noon, the Doctor broke my water and by around 2, I was pushing. About 45 minutes later, Dominic Thomas arrived on the Solemnity of the Ascension. I did the whole labor completly unmedicated. How and why did I do that?!? At any rate, little D was such a joy to have. For us, having baby number one meant tons of stress, lots of sleepless nights and, frankly, I was a complete basketcase for about six weeks.
Dominic, though, has always been a good child. He is so quick to follow directions, so polite, plays well with his brothers (usually), loves to talk about God, and is very curious. He loves anything that resembles a project. I can't believe the things he comes up with. When in his room for rest ime recently, he wrote every letter of every name of everyone in our family on seperate pieces of paper and laid them all out on the floor of his room. He's just beginning to read--I'm guessing he'll pick it up pretty fast as he loves to learn.
For his day, we did a small party. We went swimming at the Y with the littles from our family and Nick and Jessica.
After, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. We were quite the crew and attracted lots of attention. Dad joined us, too.
| Dominic opening his super sweet water gun. I really never get to see him around kids other than his brothers, so it was fun to see him interact with his friends. |
And after Pizza Hut, we went home for cupcakes.

Aunt Lizzy bought this super sweet Spiderman goggles and flippers set. He wore that mask around for 3 days!
Happy 5th, D! We love you so much!
