He's 5!

Five short years ago, I woke up at 3am and sat with contractions for six hours before we headed of to the hospital. At noon, the Doctor broke my water and by around 2, I was pushing. About 45 minutes later, Dominic Thomas arrived on the Solemnity of the Ascension. I did the whole labor completly unmedicated. How and why did I do that?!? At any rate, little D was such a joy to have. For us, having baby number one meant tons of stress, lots of sleepless nights and, frankly, I was a complete basketcase for about six weeks.

Dominic, though, has always been a good child. He is so quick to follow directions, so polite, plays well with his brothers (usually), loves to talk about God, and is very curious. He loves anything that resembles a project. I can't believe the things he comes up with. When in his room for rest ime recently, he wrote every letter of every name of everyone in our family on seperate pieces of paper and laid them all out on the floor of his room. He's just beginning to read--I'm guessing he'll pick it up pretty fast as he loves to learn.

For his day, we did a small party. We went swimming at the Y with the littles from our family and Nick and Jessica.

After, we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. We were quite the crew and attracted lots of attention. Dad joined us, too.

Dominic opening his super sweet water gun.

I really never get to see him around kids other than his brothers, so it was fun to see him interact with his friends.

And after Pizza Hut, we went home for cupcakes.

Sweet Messy Jessie

Aunt Lizzy bought this super sweet Spiderman goggles and flippers set. He wore that mask around for 3 days!

Happy 5th, D! We love you so much!

Field Trip

D's preschool class took a trip to the Kearney Children's museum for the end of the year. I took the other three kiddos, too. It was a zoo! I think there were 3 or 4 school groups there. I was glad to have Aunt Lizzy, because I definately would have lost a child, or my mind or both without her.

The superhero phase is not going out of style with these little people any time soon.

Jackson played on this track for probably 30 mins.

Here's D's friend, Nick, again. He is so, so great with Leo and he pushed him around for quite a while, giving this momma a break.

Yep--no shirt. He was occupied with the water exhibit for a while and he ended up soaked. Luckily, the museum had a dryer in the back.

We had a pizza party in the party room after with Little Caesars (reminded me of our NP days, Katie :))

Welcome, Aunt Lizzy

Not to be so narcissistic to think that the two people that follow my blog actually care, but blogger has been a huge pain lately and I just don't have an entire afternoon to devote to downloading pictures. That is why I'm 2 months behind in blogging.

Anyways.....

Aunt Lizzy came to visit for a week the beginning of this summer. It was so great to have an extra set of hands around here--and the kiddos love her so much.

We took a long walk with all the littles. We stopped for about 20 minutes to watch the crane working at the hospital addition down the street and then went on to the park.

We fed the ducks and geese and had a picnic lunch.

And then these cute twinnies begged me to take their picture--which pretty much never happens.

One of 4 pictures of all time with 4 little boys all looking at the camera!

And Lizzy was so awesome about finding fun things for the littles to do. Here they are in their undies making trains out of feet prints.

More to come...if I can ever get the pics uploaded...

So Loud

Call it a phase, or maybe he comes by it so naturally (a little Mach), but this kiddo has been crazy lately. Maybe he's just gotten to the point where he knows what he wants but he can't quite verbalize it. At any rate, a screaming Leo has been the status quo for about a month or two around here.

And since when does an 18 month old answer his mother's requests with "Why?" He is waaaaaay to young to be doing that, right? Or how about when I'll ask him a questions and he responds "Cuz"

He's growing up so much and so quickly. It will be just a matter of months before he can do every single thing that his brothers can do.
