More Leo-isms

Picture taken by Dominic

Leo looks out the window: Mom, it’s bumpy out today.

Me:

Leo: In fact, mom, it’s really bumpy out.

Leo, rubbing his legs: My legs are spiky

While loading into the car: Sweetheart, should you buckle me?

Leo: Mom, is it tomorrow yet?

Which led to a very deep discussion about how it will never be tomorrow.

Leo: This water is difficult.

Me: What do you think that means?

Leo: It doesn’t taste good.

Preschool Graduation and D’s birthday

These cute boys graduated preschool on Friday, complete with caps and gowns. They did a short little program for the parents. They have been excited for weeks and decided not to share with me any of their songs before the big day. Looks like they each passed! Jackson told me his is very excited for preschool, but sad because he won’t get to see Aunt Jena as much.

The same day was field day. It was a great family day. The school kids ran hurdles and various relay races while the little kids played. Seems ironic to me that as a reward for all their hard work all year, they get to run….But they loved it! Smile

These two ran against each other many times on Friday. Sometimes I still shake my head in amazement that they are in the same class in the same school and live 2 minutes from each other.

The big kids were so nice, they ran against Leo and Patrick!

Lucy was loved on a lot. Mrs. G is our neighbor and spoils all our kiddos.

And our big Dominic turned seven on Saturday. We had his special birthday dinner on Thursday night. His big present from us was tickets to the Husker baseball game this weekend. He also got a new basketball and a crew socks. And, no, he doesn’t care what you think about him wearing his long socks over his pants. That’s how Dominic rocks it.

He chose fried chicken, cheesy potatoes, jello and veggies for his dinner.

And we had such a blast at the ball game. It was a beautiful day! Jake and Gina, Lizzy and Chris and Paul and Katie and their kiddos joined us for the game. We did a picnic before.

We sat in the grass and did some watching and lot of playing and rolling around. The boys loved it—especially Dominic who actually watched most of the game. The kid LOVES sports.

The best part was the Uncle Chris caught a fowl ball and gave it to D. After the game, we got a few autographs (from random ball players). And the Huskers pulled out a win in the 10th inning on a walk-off home run.

After the game, we played at the park and then went to Valentino’s where Dominic was serenaded and the adults scarfed down food in between taking six kiddos through the buffet line.

It was a GREAT birthday weekend!

Happy Easter! and Jackson’s rough week

We celebrated Easter at our house again, as per our Mach family tradition….yes, I said “tradition.”

The weather was perfect and we spent lots of time outside.

After bowling in the afternoon, we stayed up too late enjoying adult beverages and playing Quirkle. In the morning, we had LOTS of eggs to hunt, thanks to Jena the Easter Bunny. The favorite was the movie Frozen--we’ve been singing all the songs for a month.

We also had a hunt at the Church after Easter Mass. And then I forced everyone to get a very squinty family picture together.

This little lady is growing! Although she’s still in about the 10th percentile for height and weight. She loves playing on the floor, rolling all over the place and jumping in her bouncy seat. She is SO happy most of the time. Still isn’t sleeping too well at night, which is probably due to the fact that she WILL NOT take solids. She turned 7 months yesterday and she won’t have anything to do with them. Her love for bananas lasted about two weeks and now she’s on a hunger strike, probably protesting all the noise from her brothers.

We spend the weekend with my parents and enjoyed the zoo.

And for Mother’s Day, I told Luke and the kiddos that all I wanted was for everyone to be super cooperative and take one good family picture. It was 40 degrees and windy, but they obliged and we got a pretty good one for putting a camera on a tripod and hoping for the best. This one’s going on the wall.

Jackson endured the worst week ever. Monday, he was playing on the couch and stepped backwards and fell off. We have no idea what sliced him open so bad, but after debating and calling everyone I knew for advice, I did end up taking him to the ER for stitches. He was pretty brave.

Two days later I found a HUGE tick that had probably been there for 3 days. I yanked that sucker out and he has just finally healed. Again, he was much braver than I.

We hosted a gathering of friends for a fire pit and roasting marshmallows. There were 25 kids and 14 adults.

We celebrated our sweet Goddaughter’s 6th birthday with them. Love seeing all the kids play together!

Jackson and Patrick did their Kindergarten check ups. They both did finger pricks and four shots. It wasn’t fun, but they managed. Dominic came along for moral support. They are now ready to head to kindergarten!!
