A Very Lazy Day
Last Wednesday was a very lazy but spontaneously fun day. At about 8:30, I loaded up the kiddos and we went to Sunmart for donuts. The kiddos were, of course, thrilled. Who doesn’t love donuts?? There was lots of getting up to help littles go potty, getting up to get a napkin, getting up to get juice, getting up to pick up a dropped coat, getting up to get a straw…you get the idea. It was chaotic and we attracted lots of attention, as usual. (I always have a “Yes, we are very blessed” for every “Wow! You have your hands full”—literally happens 3 or 4 times a week) But it was fun and made for good, good memories.
A shared purple Powerade divided among four Styrofoam cups.
And stale, chocolate donuts with rainbow sprinkles.
To top off the morning, we rented Despicable Me. I made it until noon without cooking or cleaning. Good, good morning.

Fall
A perfect, crisp night tonight for roasting marshmallows before bedtime.
Even little Leo is becoming an expert roaster He kept saying “Fire” over and over again
More evidence
of D’s crazy superhero obsession. This was rest time last Friday. Every 10 minutes he’d come upstairs and say “Ok, mom. Take my picture”
Can you name all the superheros??
I am Superwoman
A few weeks ago, I had extra little people three days in a row (just short spurts, mostly). I pretty much feel like I can do anything after watching 7 kiddos under 5 for an afternoon (really….Leo and Jackson took long naps and D was at school, so it sounds much more awesome than it was). Luckily Jess, Joe and Josh were perfect. No big deal throwing a few more kiddos into the mix.
Patrick and Jessica were begging me to take more pictures. I’ve been loving my new camera and lenses so I happily clicked away.
A rousing game of hopscotch
Some kiddos were more excited about the photo-ops than others…I’m looking at you, Joe.
Just being 2 and 3 year olds
Every time you even look at this kiddo, he just smiles at you. It’s nice for the ego.

Tractors
Our new friend, Chris, farms in the area and asked the kiddos to come out and join him on the tractors during harvest. We went one night with Luke and they loved it so much, they begged to go back!
The kiddos took turns in the grain truck, combine and tractor with the grain cart (did I get all those names right?? This city girl was in the different world out there in the field!) They loved playing with all the buttons and talking on the radio to each other.
Even Leo did pretty well. He made it up and back a row in the combine, but then he and I walked around while the other kiddos kept riding.
The littles rode in the the grain truck to the elevator. The highlight was free suckers from the lady working there! They are so inquisitive. Dominic was especially concerned about the fact that all the farmers wore baseball caps rather than cowboy hats. “Why don’t they wear farmer hats, mom?”
I loved being able to give the boys a little taste of farm life and this momma learned a few things, too!
